Answer

Faculty members may authorize anyone with a DePaul ID to check out library materials on their account. This privilege allows the assistant to check out DePaul items, I-Share items, or ILLiad items for faculty members at any DePaul campus library. To authorize this privilege, please bring a note on DePaul letterhead to any DePaul library Access Services desk with the following information:

  • Faculty name and 14-digit bar code number or DePaul # from the DePaul ID
  • Assistant name and 14-digit bar code number or DePaul # from the DePaul ID
  • Date privilege should expire

Library system records do not distinguish items checked out personally from those checked out by the assistant. Faculty members are responsible for all items checked out by the assistant.
